Dan watched Road to the Horse competition and at the end the
competitors had to ride an obstacle course. It had this (I believe it is called
a car wash) and the horses were expected to go through it.
Dan decided we needed one so he built it. The first day a
floatie blew off and Slinky (new dog) got it and shortened it.
As you can see by the picture, Dan got it up and running and
tested it with Golly. He tried her as soon as he took her out of the catch pen
and wasn’t successful. After he played with her and rode her a bit, she was
ready for the new challenge. With this mare establishing your communication,
relaxation and trust as first priority is extremely important.
I stepped close to it to watch as the horse went through and
realized that not only does it put pressure on the chest as they go but the
floaties also bump up on the underside of the belly. So they are getting a lot
of sensory stimulation. We will have to take the floaties off as the winds pick up. We already have one coming off. But . . it is fun – at least for the humans.
